Scripts - Cloak Affiliate Links

Following you will find useful scripts that you can either download, or simply copy and paste from this page to begin using.

It’s my goal to provide as much of these to you free of charge, the only thing I ask is that you keep these scripts intact and don’t modify them unless explicitly indicating that you can do so.

It could turn out that if there is enough demand for the scripts which I will be explaining and providing here that I’ll create a new site where they can be better managed than to try and manage them here, so we’ll just see how it goes.  I’ve actually already picked up a domain for this purpose because I anticipate that people will end up using this quite often.

One of the first scripts I get requests for most is the Affiliate Link Cloaking script, so we will start with this script.

Affiliate Link Cloaking Script

Description: The purpose of this script is to hide your affiliate links so that it not only cleans up how they appear to your potential customers, it hides your affiliate link so people can’t take your link out and put in their own, essentially stealing your commisions.  This particular method requires that you have your own domain when using this method, but is very effective because the actual URL is never revealed to the customer.

Follow these steps to create your own cloaking file (Feel Free To Copy and Paste This One):

  • Create a new html file that is blank and enter the following:

  • Save this file as the name of the product you are trying to promote, For example let’s say you were promoting one of my products Content Spinner Pro, you may name this file content-spinner.html
  • In the above example let’s say that my clickbank affiliate link was http://lawver.contents.hop.clickbank.net/, you would replace the red link above with your clickbank link to the product you are promoting.
  • As I mentioned above, in order for this method and file to work, you must have your own domain.  For example, if your domain is www.myproductreviews.com, you would upload this file to your webhost root file location and send your customers to the file location of http://www.myproductreviews.com/content-spinner.html

When you send customers to this new location, it will redirect them to the actuall affiliate page but the domain name will show as your www.myproductreviews.com/content-spinner.html url within the browser.

Keep in mind, there are many ways you can hide your affiliate links, this is one that I used a lot before I spent money on using actual tracking software that does automatic cloaking for me. I’ll be discussing tracking software someday here real soon, but in the meantime, if you don’t have tracking software, this method is one of the best ways to hide your affiliate links.
